Old news still Good News

Today I read a comic book called “Hero” that re-told Jesus’ story briefly in modern day New York. Now, I don’t even want to get into historical accuracy or any of that. It was not a historically accurate book. But the new perspective reminded me once again of the amazing Man I love.

This happened to me the other day as well when I read the “Jesus Storybook Bible,” which aims to tell Old Testament stories in a way that shows how the entire Bible prophetically points to Jesus. It’s a kids book, very simply written and illustrated, but after I finished it I just cried. I am so moved by the care and thought God put into telling us about his Son, and I am simply overwhelmed that Jesus would pay for the very crime we committed against HIM!

Best kids Bible yet, so far as I've read.

I have a feeling that the more I associate with my Friend Jesus, the more moved I will be by the simple re-telling of His story. The more I talk to the Father, the more like a child I’ll become, awed by his presence. So, don’t despise childish things like comics and children’s books when the speak simple Truth.

“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me” (Matthew 18: 3-5).
