I'm excited to announce that I've got art classes lined up for this winter! Starting mid-October, I'll be running a few beginner art classes in Portage and MacGregor.
These classes will all about learning how to see our world like an artist, and how to get what you see onto paper! With just a pencil and paper, we'll be covering things like:
How to hold your pencil (this seems almost TOO basic, but believe me! It's worth learning!)
Using grids to draw your subject
Simplifying your subject into basic shapes
Basic perspective
Basic shading techniques
At the end of the eight weeks, the students will have the knowledge and skills they need to draw anything put in front of them!
Who are these art classes for?
When you see "beginner art class" you might think that I'm only interested in teaching children. However, I believe that when it comes to learning art, it's more beneficial for people to congregate in groups of similar interest level/skill level, rather than similar age group. So for this beginner art class - if I were to have my way - I'd have people of all ages who want to draw but don't know how to start!
With that in mind, check out the different times and locations, and see if you or your child would like to participate in my beginner art class.
If you live in Portage, you can register for an after-school class here:
If you live in MacGregor, you can register for an after-school or evening class here:
A few notes:
If you have a group of people that all want to meet and learn how to draw, but my time slots don't work for you, feel free to contact me and maybe we can set aside a different time to arrange a class! As long as there's at at least six students in MacGregor, or at least 8 students in Portage. Any less than that and I won't be able to run the class.
I hope to see you all soon, pencil and paper in hand, eyes sparkling with excitement about ART!
